Smets Girls trip to Disney

My Story

As most of you know the business that Steve works for, Spicerhaart, have an epic charity called Magic Moments Children’s Charity, they help families of children who are going through the hospice journey or who have been bereaved go to Disneyland Paris. The trip has been described as the trip of a lifetime; it creates new happy memories at a time when things can be so difficult. The charity takes care of organising the whole of the trip and there are a number of surprises thrown in. Due to Steve’s incredible fundraising efforts in 2021, he was asked by the charity chair, Emma Barber to support the next trip at Christmas.

Inspired by the work of the charity and in particular the trip for the bereaved families Steve and his friends wanted to fund a trip for a family very close to their hearts. Recently Steve’s best friend Matt Smets passed away suddenly in June this year, leaving behind his wife Donna, 5 year old Olivia and 1 year old Rosie.

So – the event. 18 of Matt’s nearest and dearest are dressing up as Disney Characters and completing a half marathon around the Leisure Routes of Milton Keynes – the same route that Matt organised the last fundraiser the group did – the Xmas Santa Dash. The funds raised will enable Donna, Olivia and Rosie to experience the Magic of Disney at a time when it is most needed. In addition any funds raised on top of this will be donated to Magic Moments to enable more families who have been bereaved or going through the hospice journey to experience Disneyland Paris.
